I dragged Tennille with me to go see Nizlopi at Whelans. I partially just wanted to go to a gig at Whelans so I could see the room where P.S. I Love You was filmed. They are a duo out of the UK and are amazing. Check them out on myspace or i-tunes.
Afternoon tea at Bewley’s on Grafton street: If you sit on the second level by the window you can people watch all afternoon long while enjoying some delicious Irish afternoon tea.
Chester Beatty Library on the Dublin Castle grounds: It’s actually a museum of various religious texts/art/etc. It’s free and quiet and relaxing and it has a zen garden on the rooftop that overlooks the castle and castle garden.
Cliffs of Moher: Despite my intense fear of heights and the lack of any boundary between me and the sea way far below, it’s gorgeous and something everyone should see. I was really excited to see some puffins (they nest there) but they must have been sleeping while we were there. Someday I WILL see one.
Gallagher’s Boxty House in Temple Bar: Rachel Ray was right, it’s delicious and you get to listen to live trad music while you eat.
Glencolumbkille: My favorite place on earth. Nice scenery, good people, lots of craic agus ceol.
Kilmainham Gaol: An infamous jail where all of the leaders of Ireland’s uprisings were imprisoned and executed. It has been the setting for many a movie/Sinead O’Connor music video/U2 music video.
Marshmallow hot chocolate on a rainy day at Butler’s Chocolate Cafe on Henry Street (I think Mallory can attest to this one)
Nuala Star: Captain Paddy’s fishing boat docked in Teelin, County Donegal. Paddy will take you out on his fishing boat and drive you along the coast for a small fee. Excellent on a hot day.
Silver Strand Beach: In County Donegal, I think the town is Malin Beg (next to Glencolumbkille). It’s gorgeous and well hidden.
